American Idol Goodbye Songs

CARRIE UNDERWOOD - HOME SWEET HOME
ARTIST: CARRIE UNDERWOOD
ALBUM: SINGLE - HOME SWEET HOME
RATING: ***

*The American Idol fourth-season champ's rendition of Motley Crue's "Home Sweet Home" will serve as the "farewell song" heard after each of the eighth season's Top 13 finalists is eliminated from the competition. In addition to serenading each of the fallen Idol finalists, Underwood's version of "Home Sweet Home" will also be sold as a digital single, with a portion of its sales being donated to The Humane Society of the United States.

RUBEN STUDDARD - CELEBRATE ME HOME
ARTIST: RUBEN STUDDARD
ALBUM: SINGLE - CELEBRATE ME HOME
RATING: *****

*Ruben Studdard, winner of American Idol in its second season, recorded a cover of "Celebrate Me Home" to be used as the show's seventh season Top 12 exit song. Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Studdard's rendition omitted the song's first-line holiday mention, to give it a more general feel. The Studdard recording was made available for iTunes download starting March 12, 2008,[1] as Loggins' original recording also prospered from new downloads. It was also currently a song played for eliminated teams in the 2008 NBA Playoffs whenever a team was eliminated on their home court. Many jazz artists have performed this as well, including Al Jarreau.

DAUGHTRY - HOME
ARTIST: DAUGHTRY
ALBUM: DAUGHTRY
RATING: *****

*"Home" is a 2007 song by American rock band Daughtry from their self titled debut album. The song had been climbing up the U.S. charts for a few weeks before the song was announced as second single (possibly due to its use on American Idol as the show's "vote off" song). Chris Daughtry wrote the song on the couch the day before he left for American Idol. The theme of the song centers around the singer being grateful for what he has, but still longing for his family. Therefore, he realizes it is best if he comes home, where he is surrounded by love.

DANIEL POWTER - BAD DAY

*Bad Day" is a pop song written by Canadian singer Daniel Powter.
